Mustang Mike

Aged BLM Mustang saved from slaughter

Mustang Mike found himself in a dire situation.   He found himself at the end of the line.  He was sent to auction and purchased by a well know kill buyer in Bastrop, LA. One of our rescue partners, BLM Mustang Rescue Network reached out to us for help.

Generous donors rallied together to raise bail to get Mike safe. This was on a Sunday night, he was scheduled to be shipped to Mexico for slaughter on Monday since the truck was finally at full capacity, which warrented a shipping date.

Will and Lisa drove from Tennessee to the Ark-La kill pen holding facility to pick him up and get this guy safe. Mustang Mike has resided at Hosanna Horse Haven since March of 2016.

He has great ground manners and loves hugs, once he warms up to you.  He gets along well with other horses, stands well for farrier, and has a sweet pleasing personality.

Mikey is currently not available for adoption.

Volunteering at a barn that offers therapeutic horsemanship can be a fulfilling experience for various reasons. Volunteers not only get to work with horses but also assist individuals with disabilities in enhancing their physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities. Volunteering can also provide a sense of purpose and satisfaction, as well as opportunities to acquire new skills and establish meaningful connections with others in the community.
